Edwin J. Becker, 89, of Weston, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at home, under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born on April 13, 1936, in Marshfield, to the late Albert and Hilda (Brey) Becker. Ed grew up in the town of Richfield, was proud to have attended Long School (a one-room schoolhouse), and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1955. Ed married the love of his life, Carol Reigel, in 1960 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bakerville.
Ed will be remembered as a quiet man of faith and one that loved and nurtured his family. He cherished his wife and children and especially enjoyed the many family gatherings. Ed often shared fond memories about his youth; hunting, trapping, fishing on the Yellow River, and playing baseball with his siblings. Most of his career he worked as a soil agronomist which combined his love of agriculture and farming. He also treasured nature and would spend time at his shack by the creek on his 40-acre hobby farm. Ed was a handyman and could build and improve on any project that family or friends needed. Ed and Carol enjoyed their annual fall trips with her brother and sisters-in-law and would take trips in the spring to visit his sisters. Ed’s life was his family, followed by the quiet and beauty of nature.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; children, Kevin (Lori) Becker, Cindra (Glenn) Falkowski, Susan Becker, and Melissa (Eric) Brunsell; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 6101 Zinser Street, Weston, with Rev. Jerome Patric Maria-Francis presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Private family burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
