Edwin J. Bauer

Edwin J. Bauer 81, Wausau died Monday, March 27, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born July 15, 1924 in Marathon City, son of the late Rudolph and Elizabeth (Michlig) Bauer. On September 25, 1948 he married Josephine Grendzinski at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. She survives. During World War II Ed served his country in the United States Army with the 416th Ordinance as a technician 5th Grade. He was active in the Wausau chapter of the Loyal Order of Moose, holding the Governors position and also received the Fellowship Degree. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. Ed worked at Kickbush Wholesale from 1946 until 1960. He then went to work for Wausau Paper Mills in Brokaw from 1960 until his retirement in 1988. Ed was a volunteer for the Commission on Aging, Meals on Wheels Program. Survivors include his wife, Josephine Bauer, Wausau, one son, Richard (Karen) Bauer, Madison, one daughter, Rita Bauer, St. Louis Park, Minn., one grandchild, three great grandchildren, three sisters, Dolores (Ellsworth) Luetzer, Merrill, Evelyn (Charles) Berg, Milwaukee and Patricia (Don) McAllen, Anchorage, Alaska. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Ronald, one brother, Norman, two sisters, Elvera Dalbec and Marie Tietz. The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue and again on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
