Edward T. Writz

Edward T. Writz 77, Tomahawk, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at the Hospice House. He was born June 23, 1929 in Athens, son of the late Thomas and Helen (Stencil) Writz. Ed married Elaine Leffel in 1952, they later divorced but remained good friends. Ed was the owner/operator of Ed Writz Trucking Co. and was also co-owner of Wausau Truck Sales. He also drove cement truck in Milwaukee and was proud to help haul for the original Brewers Stadium. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, American Legion and the VFW in Tomahawk. Ed also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing pool and cards but most of all he loved to spend time visiting with his friends and family. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1947 until 1951. Survivors include his siblings, George (Laurene) Writz, Wausau, one sister, Marcella Reilly, Alpena, Michigan, special friend Elaine Leffel Dahlke, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Writz Sr. and one sister, Sophie Loth. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church, Tomahawk or The Church of St. Anne, Wausau.
