Edward "Jack" Thorn, 73, Wausau, died Sunday, December 6, 2015 at home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born January 3, 1942 in Wausau, son of the late Glen and Margaret (Schisel) Thorn. On December 15, 1962, he married Sandra Roeder in Reno, Nevada. She survives.
Jack retired from GTE after many years of service as an installer. Following retirement, he enjoyed tending bar at many area taverns. Among his favorite pastimes, he loved woodworking, mowing his lawn, sitting outside being the "neighborhood watch" and feeding the area chipmunks whom he adored.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Thorn, Wausau; three sons, Russell (Shannon) Thorn, town of Texas, Randy (Marsha) Thorn, Wausau and Robby (Beth) Thorn, Superior; three grandchildren, Hunter, Haley and Stacey; one great-granddaughter, Bristol Lynn; one brother, Bob (Margie) Thorn, town of Wausau; two sisters, Beth Allman, town of Texas and Carol Gajewski, Wausau; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Ron) Nass, Ohio, Deb (Jerry) Halkowski, Oconomowoc and Bonnie Roeder, Tomahawk; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Thorn; and one sister, Helen Walters.
A memorial celebration of Jack's life will be held from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Town of Texas Town Hall, T4510 River Hills Road, Wausau, WI 54403, located just northeast of the Trapp River Golf Course on Highway WW.
