Edward Sigmund
87, Wausau, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at his home.
He was born February 12, 1922 in Edgar, son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Krell) Sigmund. On May 8, 1943 he married Mary Jane Huntington at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. She preceded him in death on January 21, 1997.
Edward served his country in the United States Army during World War II serving under General Patton. He worked in maintenance and grounds for the Marathon County Park Department. Some of his hobbies included snowmobiling, camping and fishing. He also enjoyed breakfast with family and friends at the Red Apple and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Joseph (Sally) Sigmund, Wausau and their children, Mark (Lisa) Sigmund, Kaukauna and Sharla Sigmund Weston; daughter, Patricia (Dale) Klinger, Mosinee and their daughter, Vicki (Brent) Bernards, Madison and their son, Jackson; daughter, Jeanette (Allen) Graveen, Wausau and their two sons, Aaron (Stephanie) Graveen, Eau Claire and their children, Dylan and Kaitlyn and Jared (Crystal) Graveen, Wausau and their children, Kailey, Brianna and Owen; three brothers, Marvin Sigmund, Fenwood, Melvin (Maxine) Sigmund, Fond du Lac and Ray Sigmund, Fenwood and special friend, Ina Zettler, Wausau.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and David Sigmund.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Noon on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. Gerald Pehler O.F.M. Cap. will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau.
