Edward A. Prahl
87, Wausau, passed away and went to be with his son, Charlie, on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Ministry St. Claire's Hospital, Weston.
He was born August 28, 1923 in the town of Wausau, son of the late Henry and Ella (Beck) Prahl. On October 16, 1948, he married Jeanette Czech at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
For over 35 years, Edward worked for the Marathon County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator, until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed working with his friends at the local farmers market, playing cards, especially sheepshead and going to the casino. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include, his wife of 62 years, Jeanette Prahl, Wausau; one daughter, Mary (Lon) Andreski, Merrill; four grandchildren, Amber (Bradley) Mroczenski, Wausau, Ashley (Jason) Engman, Weston, Zachary and Sarah Andreski, Merrill; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Prahl, Wausau and Pauline Adamczyk, Wauwatosa.
Besides his parents and son, Charlie, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Willis, Henry Jr. and Warren Prahl; and one sister, Mary Ann Dittbrender.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Deacon Peter Burek will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
