Edward P. Meyer Jr.

Edward P. Meyer Jr., 78, Marathon passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 while under the care of Compassus Hospice at VitaCare Living, Abbotsford.

He was born June 6, 1945 in Chicago, son of the late Edward P. and Margaret (Hill) Meyer Sr.  On July 22, 1978 he married Susan Pierce in McHenry, Il.  She preceded him in death on October 9, 2019.

Edward graduated with a Bachelor of Art Degree from St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa.  His artistic abilities included painting in watercolors, and painting murals on barns, businesses and private homes.  He won several awards for his work.

Some of Ed’s favorite pastimes included camping, traveling around Wisconsin painting scenes from around the state, and digging deep into his Irish heritage.  Ed will always be remembered for his artistic abilities.  Edward worked a number of years at the Cenex Hardware Store in Marathon.

Survivors include his daughter, Maria Meyer, his sisters, Maureen Meyer, Atwood, Illinois and Kathy Meyer, Glen Ellyn, Illinois and two nephews, Patrick (Kelly) Weiland, Lombard, Illinois and Shamus (Heather) Weiland, New York.  Edward is further survived by Susan’s siblings, Rev. Patrick (Leone) Pierce, Mosinee, Kathleen Pierce, Arpin, Jeanne Featherstone, Timnath, Colorado, Mary (Larry) Vitek, Crystal Lake, Illinois, Dr. Michael (Mary Jane) Pierce, Portland, Eureka, Missouri, Ann (Terry) Tiffany, Merrill, Willard “Tim” (Ruth) Pierce, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and Thomas Pierce, Lake Tomahawk, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

A Prayer service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon.  Burial for both Ed and Susan will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
