Edward A. Jehn
80, Wausau, died Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at his home on moonset of the hunters full moon. Very fitting for this lifelong sportsman.
He was born May 8, 1925 and raised on a farm south of Merrill, son of the late Arthur and Alma (Schade) Jehn.
Eddie graduated from Wausau High School, June of 1943. A veteran of World War II, Ed served in the Navy and was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10, Wausau and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ringle-Hatley Memorial Post #8342. Following many years of loyal service, he retired from the Wausau Post Office.
Eddie loved dancing and was known as the "Waltz King". A great passion in his life was baseball, receiving many honors, awards and trophies. To continue his legacy, he coached Little League, Pony League, Senior League and American Legion Baseball. As a solid leader in Wausau Youth Baseball, he instilled the values of truth and sportsmanship. He was still actively playing organized baseball until the time of his stroke, when he was one of the best team players at age 71. It took a lot of hard work to regain his strength, giving his heartfelt love for another nine years.
Above and beyond all else was his undying love for his family. As stated by many, "If I could be half the man he was, I would be a great man."
Survivors include, his wife, Joan (Lodholz) Jehn; five children, JoAnn (Gary) Olson, Larry (Karen) Jehn, Mark (Suzie) Jehn, Robert (Shirley) Jehn, Cindy (Jim) Harte; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, George (Betty) Jehn, Wallace and Charles (Ruth) Jehn; and one sister, Marion Kolpitcke.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Reno and Ervin Jehn.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 22, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Dennis Pegorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion and VFW.
