Edward “Eddie” Winthrop Ellefson

August 23, 1998 – July 7, 2026

Edward Winthrop Ellefson went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2026, at the age of 27.

Eddie was a unique, complicated, passionate spark in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was kind-hearted and loving, creative and funny, witty and intelligent, a deep thinker with a talent and adventurous spirit all his own.

He loved music above almost anything. A gifted musician, Eddie taught himself to play a wide range of instruments, and he was precise and particular about the music he made, always chasing the sound he heard in his head. He was easy and warm in conversation, equally at home talking with someone twice or half his age. He was a visionary who saw things differently than most, and he left his mark on the people around him.

But his mind was never quiet. Eddie struggled with the debilitating grip of addiction on his quality of life, a battle that shaped so much of his story. His family is devastated by this loss. They prayed he would accept the help that was offered him, so he could find peace here on earth. That peace wasn’t meant to be found in this life. He is now in the arms of Jesus.

Eddie is survived by his loving parents, Meg (Meyer) and John Ellefson, and his brother Davy, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends and acquaintances who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, John “Grandpa Jack” and Mary Meyer, and Richard and Barbara Ellefson; his great uncle Bill Field; and dear friends lost too soon.

Eddie was deeply loved by his mom, dad, and brother Davy, and by many friends and acquaintances whose lives he touched.

Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026 at River City Church, Wausau. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service all at River City Church.  We invite all family and close friends to please attend.
