Edward T. Denfeld
82, Wausau, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1926 in the Town of Stettin, son of the late Theodore and Frances (Hoffman) Denfeld.
Edward entered the service in 1944 into the 3rd Marine Artillery Division being stationed in Guam and later transferred to the 1st Marine Division in the occupying forces stationed in Tientsin, China. He was discharged in April 1947 upon which he returned to Wausau and married Leona Mae Levandoski in 1948. She survives
He was employed at American Can Corp. and Weyerhauser for 42 years. In 1955 he started Denfeld Concrete Construction Company. Retiring in 1990 the construction company continues to be run by his sons. Edward was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling and sponsored bowling and athletic teams for many years. He also enjoyed trips to the casinos, trips to Las Vegas and time spent up North with family and friends fishing and pontoon boating. Time spent with his children and grandchildren was especially important to him.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Denfeld, Wausau; a daughter, Mary Beth Denfeld, Chicago, Ill.; sons, Mark (Jean) Denfeld and Stuart (Stacey) Denfeld, both of Wausau; grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth, Erica Jean, Tyler James and Thomas Kristian; step-grandchildren, Travis James Schertz and Tyler John Schertz; a sister, Delores Schubilske, Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Florence Denfeld, Edgar and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Beaty, and two brothers, Paul and Harold.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven J. Brice will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Denfeld, Thomas Denfeld, Travis Schertz, John Denfeld, Tim Schubilske and Ted Schubilske.
