Edna Salzman

Edna Salzman 97, Wausau, died Monday, February 13, 2012 at Wausau Manor under the care of Aseracare Hospice. She was born October 19, 1914 in Rib Falls, daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Matthiae) Hanke. On July 6, 1935 she married Anton Salzman who preceded her in death. Edna was very active at her church as a member of the St. Catherine's Council, taking communion to shut-ins and singing in the choir. She loved being outdoors, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens as well as camping and traveling. "Grandma Cookie" enjoyed baking her cookies for all her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Jerome (Linda) Salzman, Mosinee, James (Joyce) Salzman, Colgate, Wisconsin, Roger (Patricia) Salzman, Wausau and Elaine (Leonard) Lang, Mosinee; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn (Bob) Mueller, grandson, Michael Salzman and a brother, Lawrence Hanke. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. David Rybicki will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Wausau Manor as well as the staff of Aseracare Hospice for the compassionate care given to Edna. The family would also like to thank her caring and helpful neighbors, Lori and Darren Brown, and Joan Heinz.
