Edith "Edie" W. Weiler
82, Athens, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Golden Living Center, Abbotsford.
She was born February 6, 1926 in Taylor County, daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Harder) Draeger. Edith attended school in Medford and married William Weiler on July 13, 1943 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He survives.
Together, William and Edith farmed in the town of Bern until their retirement. Edith worked for many years in the ginseng gardens. Among her many interests, she enjoyed gardening and was a great cook. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens.
Survivors include, her husband, William Weiler, Athens; eight children, Betty Jean (Dennis) Rasmussen , Yuma, Ariz., Theresa (Edward) Hoffmann, Athens, Ronald Weiler, Marathon, Judy (Dave) Ellenbecker, Athens, Joseph (Karen) Weiler, Athens, Christine (Craig) Lang, Edgar, Steven (Brenda) Weiler, Ogema, Wis. and Wayne (Cindy) Weiler, Stevens Point; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two brothers, Harvey (Lucille) Draeger, Medford and Robert (Delores) Draeger, Medford; one sister, Arlene (Ed) Colander, New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Draeger.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
