Edith M. Holzem, 72, Weston, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at home with her family at her side.
She was born July 25, 1936 in Wausau, the daughter of Dorothy (Bartels) Tapper and the late Alfred Tapper . On September 21, 1957 she married Richard A. Holzem in Wausau. He preceded her in death October 30, 2004.
Edith retired in July of 1998 aftter 35 years in Human Resources at Wausau Papers. Time with her family was precious and she was very proud of and loved her five grandsons. Holidays were special to Edith, with Christmas being her favorite. She was a fantastic cook, enjoyed cooking classes, volunteering and helping other people. She took great pride and joy in her lawn care and gardening. Edith's hard work and determination showed many what was possible. She will deeply be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving mother, Dorothy Tapper; one daughter, Catherine L. (John) Teske; two sons, James V. (Beth) Holzem and David O. (Terri) Holzem; five grandsons, Travis J., Andrew J. (Jamie), Anthony J., Kyle O., and Eric O.; one great-granddaughter, Madison; two sisters, Elaine (Mike) Clynch and Ellen (Bud) Koenig, one sister-in-law, Joyce Tapper; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Ruby) Holzem and Ken (Carol) Holzem; four sisters-in-law, Marlene Wolf, Karren Seliger, Joanne Engman, and Helen Holzem; nieces and nephew, other relatives and friends.
Besides her loving husband and confidante, Richard, she was preceded in death by her father Alfred, and one brother Owen.
The family wishes to thank Dr. H. Rezazadeh and the oncology nurses for the care mom received, and also Aspirus Comfort Care for their support and guidance.
A service celebrating Edith's life will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2008, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 512 McClellan St., Wausau, with the Rev. Gary Froseth officiating. Friends may call Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau. Private interment prior to the service at church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund.
