Earl F. Krieg

Earl F. Krieg 92, Wausau, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Harmony Living Center, Wausau, under the care of Ministry Health Care and Home Hospice. He was born October 4, 1915 in Marathon, son of the late George and Anna (Staeck) Krieg. On June 6, 1944, he married Marie Stieber at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives. Prior to his retirement, Earl was a farmer and carpenter, and following retirement, he kept busy repairing electric razors. Through the years, Earl had been an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder and currently was a member at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau where he ushered for many years. He was a member of the Optimist Club, the Peoples Senior 55 Club and the Carpenters Union. Survivors include, his wife, Marie Krieg, Wausau; six children, Patricia Krieg-Hiatt, Wausau, John (Jeanette) Krieg, Wausau, Andrew (Donna) Krieg, Wausau, Michael (Heather) Krieg, Santa Fe Springs, Calif., Roger (Mary Ann) Krieg, LeMont, Ill., and Steven (Mary) Krieg, Brookfield; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Marguerite Iback, Mabel Kaiser and Verene Wilde; and one brother, George Krieg. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 23, 2008 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
