Earl F. Thompson
80, 812 Maple Street, Wausau died Tuesday, October 9, 2001 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at his home.
Earl was born September 15, 1921 in Crandon, son of the late Paul and Katherine (Salzman) Thompson. He married Esther (Karter) Kwarciany November 6, 1953 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tomahawk.
Earl was employed at the former Curtis Company and later as a carpenter for Lang Brothers Construction until his retirement in 1988.
He was a veteran of the United States Army in WWII, serving from 1943 to 1946 and participated in the Normandy invasion.
Earl loved pheasant hunting and hunting dogs. He also enjoyed woodworking and his garden.
Survivors besides his wife, Esther Thompson, Wausau, include his children, Kristine (Thomas) Tierney, Kathleen (Bruce) Kleinschmidt, David (Lynn) Thompson, all of Wausau, Debra Thompson, Eau Claire, Karen (Donald) Bohr, Wausau, Dennis Thompson, Hatley and Ellen (John) Prahl, Wausau, twelve grandchildren, two brothers, Lawrence (Mary) Thompson, Edgar and Neil (Vivian) Thompson, Wausau and three sisters, Esther Duranso, Wausau, Amanda Bicos, Hollywood, Florida and Ruth Brown, Willingston, Florida.
Besides his parents, Earl was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Thompson.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2001 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Town of Kronenwetter. Friends may call Thursday, October 11, 2001 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service 8 p.m. Thursday at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
