Duane J. "Pinky" Wilson, 74, Wausau, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was born September 5, 1933 in Colby, son of the late John and Lucille (Swanson-Geiger) Wilson. He spent his early life in the communities of Abbotsford, Colby and Milan and graduated form Abbotsford High School in 1951. He faithfully served his country with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Pinky's career in law enforcement began in 1961 with the Taylor County Sheriff's Department. In 1965, he joined the Wisconsin State Patrol, working and living in many communities throughout the state, until his retirement in 1988. Pinky has been a resident of the Wausau community for the past 33 years. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. Among his many interests, he enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and meeting family and friends at the truck stop in Rib Mountain for coffee. Pinky also enjoyed riding his motorcycle to many places throughout the country. Survivors include, his former wife and friend, Marie Wilson, Racine; three daughters, Tammi Christensen, Racine, Meg Moore, Phoenix, Ariz. and Beth Wilson, Pike Lake; one son, Jon (Kelly) Wilson, Racine; seven grandchildren, Jessi (Kai) Christensen, Miranda and Caitlin Christensen, Erin (Eric) Morrow, Corie Moore, Taylor Morales and Murphy Wilson; three great grandchildren, Emma Christensen, Holly Anderson and Brooke Morrow; six sisters, Udelle Fasse, Diane (John) Horvath, Rosalie (Dale) Barkow, Judy (Ron) Robbert, Mary (Dave) Domboski and Gail (John) Paulson; six nieces; 10 nephews; his little buddy, Nate Woller; Leeann Huss "Green Bay"; his fiancAC.e, Jo Keys and her children, Joseph (fiancAC.e Theresa) Jordan, Jordan (Ricky) Shuffield, Joshua (Sarah) Dickinson and Kay'ce Dickinson and her children, Aurora and Ayleah. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Oliver Wilson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. John Roseth will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau with full military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services, all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
