Duane E. Mueller

Duane E. Mueller, 52, of the town of Stettin, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

He was born on December 5, 1972 in Wausau to the late Glenn and Elaine (Nagel) Mueller.  Duane graduated from Edgar High School in 1991 and attended classes in Eau Claire and at N.T.C. where he received his associate’s degree.  He then earned his bachelor's degree from Walden University.  On August 29, 1998, he was united in marriage to Audrey Sprenger at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon.  For over 30 years Duane worked for Wausau Insurance and Liberty Mutual.  He also was a part-time bus driver for First Student.

Duane loved his family and his community.  He supported his daughters, Emily and Anya, and family with whatever they were doing.  He enjoyed deer hunting with his daughters as well.  Duane loved to be out on his Harley or snowmobiling with family and friends.  He served on the church council and was secretary for the Poniatowski Dare Devils.  Over the years many family gatherings were enjoyed by all as well as the happy hour crew that met up for the last 25 years.  Duane will be remembered for always being right and making the best of whatever he got dragged into.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; daughters, Emily (Andrew) Vehlow and Anya Mueller (Eli Goffin); sister, LeAnn (Bernie) Stankowski; brother, Daryl (Beth) Mueller; nephews and nieces, Connor Stankowski, Casey (Kait) Stankowski, Cadin Stankowski, McKenzie Mueller, Clayton Mueller, and Sawyer Mueller; aunts, Elaine Mielke, Jean (Larry) Hoppenworth, and Sarah (Chris) Lemmer; father and mother-in-law, Bill (Francine) Sprenger; sister-in-law, Shana Sprenger; dog, Bella; grand-pup, Sarge; and horse, Lilly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Elaine; brother, Durand Mueller; aunt, Joyce LeVoy; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church (Town of Stettin), 232280 North 120th Avenue, Wausau, with Rev. William Ostrem officiating.  Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, at 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and continue at the church on Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Private family burial will take place in Stettin Christian Cemetery.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
