Douglas M. Krueger, 64, Villa Park, Ill., a former Wausau resident, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 24, 2017 surrounded by his family.
He was born January 4, 1953, in Milwaukee, son of the late Marvin and Viola (Luebbe) Krueger. On June 23, 1973, he married Mary Lou Pasnecker at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wausau. She preceded him in death January 15, 2015.
Douglas attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Marathon and furthered his education, as a student in Clovis, New Mexico. His passion was being a cheesemaker and worked with his best friends, Chuck and Steve when he first started out. Douglas worked for Marathon Cheese Corp., Lemke Cheese, Crystal Farms and Tucumcari Cheese Factory in various positions. While in Clovis, NM, he opened the Gourmet Cheese Store and was open until Doug and Mary moved to Villa Park, IL. He was a member of the Town of Maine Lions Club and Big Bull Falls Lions Club.
Among his most favorite pastimes, he enjoyed pheasant hunting and deer hunting with his brothers and brothers-in-law. He loved telling stories and had a laugh that touched everyone in the room. Douglas loved playing classic vinyl records for his family and mastered the air guitar. Over the past nine years, Douglas loved time spent with his wife, daughters, grandchildren and family.
Survivors include three daughters, Jessica (James) Schwartz, Madison, Liz (Abdelouhed) Ouaffar, Villa Park, Ill., and Melissa Krueger, Villa Park, Ill., five grandchildren, Alyssa, Jacob and Steven Schwartz; Noah and Zakariah Ouaffar; one sister, Deborah (Gregg) Lengling, Cedarburg, three brothers, James Krueger, Newberg, Larry (Anne) Krueger, Grafton and Mark (Michelle) Krueger, Mequon; and brother and sisters-in-law, Marcia (Michael) Niewolny, Charles (Crystal) Pasnecker and Rose (Robin) Procknow, all of Wausau. He also had fifteen nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vicky Krueger.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday March 31, 2017 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wausau. Rev. Dr. Philip Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Town of Maine. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
