Dorris "Dolly" Meeuwsen

Dorris “Dolly” Meeuwsen, 92, of Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Primrose Retirement Community of Wausau.

She was born on December 25, 1932 to the late Paul and Doris (Carter) Bechberger in New York, New York.  Over the years she furthered her education and received a B.A. degree from Hope College and a master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch.  She worked for 30 years as a tutor and paraprofessional in the Port Washington School District and schools in Oneida County.  Dorris was a member of the First Congregational United Church.  She loved animals (especially cats), the color purple, living lakeside, and cared deeply about equal rights and inclusivity.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Rod) Luhn, David Meeuwsen, and Jill (Nate) Mickelson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Margaret.

A memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ravenna, Ohio.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
