Dorothy D. Tylinski

Dorothy D. Tylinski 101, Marathon, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilation Center. She was born April 5, 1910 in Marathon, daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Brzezinski) Martin. On June 18, 1934 she married Walter Tylinski at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2001. Dorothy and Walter farmed for 46 years in the town of Marathon and stayed on the farm for 12 years without farming before moving to the village of Marathon in 1981. In her younger days she worked for Judge Stone in Wausau and for the town of Marathon as an election poll attendant for many years. In her married life she was a homemaker who loved to sew, bake and make quilts. Dorothy and Walter enjoyed attending dances and playing cards with friends. She was a member of the Sacred Heart PCCW. Survivors include her children, Virginia (George) Bruce, Battle Ground, Washington, and David (Alice) Tylinski, Marathon; grandchildren, Karl Bruce, Portland, Oregon, Kenneth (Carol) Bruce, Kelso, Washington, Gretchen (Terry) Hoffer, Seattle, Washington, Mark (Kim) Tylinski, Cheryl (Clark) Buttke, Michael (Rebecca) Tylinski, all of Marathon, Clay (Victoria) Tylinski, Appleton and Troy (Kathy) Tylinski, Weston; 13 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Thomas Martin and three sisters, Anne Emerson, Irene Hallas and Laverna "Betsy" Savinske. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, town of Cassel. Friends may call Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Wausau Manor for the exceptional care given to Dorothy during her 7 year stay.
