Dorothy Theresa Skrzypchak, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother peacefully passed to her eternal reward and home, reunited in happiness with her beloved husband, Johnny, on February 25, 2012. She was residing at North Central Health Care, Gardenside Crossing, in Wausau.
Dorothy was born September 27, 1924 in Edgar, daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Hean) Kraimer. She married John E. Skrzypchak Jr., October 14, 1941, in Wausau at Saint James Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1989.
Dorothy and Johnny farmed in the Town of Cassel until retirement. They raised 6 children together.
Her family meant everything to her. Care and self-sacrifice for family; along with a strong religious faith were cornerstones throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, farm life, and spending time, especially holiday gatherings, with her family. There is no way to measure all the love Dorothy gave.
She is survived by six children, Sy (Terri) Wera, Theresa (Harry) Penrose, Gerard (Jayne) Skrzypchak, Mary (David) Rajek, Dale (Debbie) Skrzypchak, and Trudy Ryan; thirteen grandchildren, Michael (Kathy) Wera, Jennifer (David) Schilling, Lee Skrzypchak, Joel (fiancAC. Emma) Skrzypchak, Gerard (Sarah) Rajek, Stephen Rajek, Paul Rajek, Laura (Rob) Pelko, Eric (Dawn) Skrzypchak, Justin (Trisha) Skrzypchak, Dana (Seth) Sneider, Jeff Ryan, and John Ryan; ten great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Jeremiah, Mackenzie, Morgan, Lucas, Kylee, Keegan, Jayden, Landon, Colton; one brother, Norbert (Netta) Kraimer; one brother-in-law, Clarence (Janet) Skrzypchak and many nieces and nephews.
Also proceding her in death were her infant daughter, Mary Ann, brothers August, Henry, Joe and Bernard Kraimer and sisters Anna Schmitz, Mary Mischler, Cecilia Imhoff, and Agatha Karlen.
In lieu of flowers, Dorothy's wish was all memorials to be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of services all at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 9:00 a.m. at the church.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the professional, yet truly caring staff at Gardenside Crossing. Dorothy said she liked it there, which showed on her face. She was given respectful & dignified care during her brief time there.
