Dorothy F. Schmitz

Dorothy F. Schmitz 70, Rib Mountain, died June 17, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born May 19, 1941 in Wausau, daughter of the late Edmund and Frances (Ostrowski) Nowaczyk. On August 12, 1961 she married Glenn Schmitz at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau. He survives. Dorothy graduated from Newman Catholic High School in 1959 and worked as a child care provider and a teacher's aide. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and watching her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She volunteered for many different programs at St. Matthew Catholic Church and Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren was her greatest enjoyment. Survivors include her husband, Glenn, Rib Mountain; children, Cathy (Dominic) Bush, Wausau, Doug Schmitz, Bruce, Wisc., Mike (Bonni) Schmitz, Cashton, Wisc., Debbie (Chris) Sparby, Mosinee and Jason (Sara) Schmitz, Orono, Minn.; grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas and Michael Bush, Malachi and Bennet Schmitz; Brothers, Chester (Pam) Nowaczyk and Raymond (Vicki) Nowaczyk, both of Wausau; sisters-in-law, Lou Ann Schmitz, Miss. and Joan Schmitz, Milwaukee, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Myron Schmitz. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Noon on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Tuesday from 9a.m. until the time of services all at the church. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Palliative Care Unit, Aspirus Wausau Hospital and to Doctors Jeffrey Oswald, Vera Bocoun and Pablo Abrego for the compassionate care given to Dorothy.
