Dorothy Ida Schmidt

Dorothy I. Schmidt 95, Athens, died Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Colonial House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Colby. She was born May 12, 1912 in the town of Halsey, daughter of the late Adolph and Bertha (Kropp) Conrad. On June 28, 1930 she married Erwin Schmidt at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. He preceded her in death April 26, 1993. Dorothy was a homemaker who also helped her husband farm in the town of Bern until 1980. Her family was her pride and joy. Survivors include her children, Melvin (Dolores) Schmidt, Marshfield, Audrey Venzke, Colby, Gilbert (Violet) Schmidt, Wausau and Dolores (Thomas) Venzke, Athens; 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, sister, Olyne Cooper, Tenn. and many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Erwin, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Eugene, two sisters, Loretta and Esther; brother, Walter and son-in-law, James Venzke. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Rev. Andrew Alberts will officiate. Burial will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran School, Athens.
