Dorothy B. Martin

Dorothy B. Martin, 95, Stevens Point, formerly of Marathon, died Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Portage County Health Care Center. She was born March 21, 1917 in Marathon, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Bertha (Braunel) Buchberger. On November 23, 1938, she married Clarence F. Martin at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1994. Dorothy was a homemaker and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Among her favorite things to do were baking, cooking, playing cards, bowling and watching all types of sports, especially the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the PCCW at St. Mary's and a member of the Rib Falls Homemakers. Survivors include, five children, Dolores (Jim) Schirpke, Stevens Point, Gary (Joan) Martin, Stevens Point, David (Suzanne) Martin, Marathon, Susan LaMotte, Woodbury, Minn. and Jon (Marge) Martin, Minong, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Clarence, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Mark LaMotte; seven brothers, Leo, Henry, Alex, Norbert, Ed, Armand and Lee Buchberger; and two sisters, Leona Collins and Erna Gassner-Albrecht. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon on Friday, October 5, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.
