Dorothy J. Laffin
96, town of Hewitt, died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital
under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born May 16, 1909 in the town of Harrison, daughter of the late George and Eloise (Croterfield) Hunt. On June 15, 1932, she married Arthur W. Laffin in Antigo. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1980.
Dorothy was a member of the Zion Ladies Aid LWML, Hewitt Homemaker's Club and volunteered many hours at Bethesda Thrift Shop, Wausau. She was the oldest living resident in the town of Hewitt. Among her many interests, she enjoyed making mittens and quilts for her family and grandchildren. Dorothy always flew the U. S. flag when company came to her home and her hospitality to friends and family was unmatched. All who knew her will miss her unique "Irish wit".
Survivors include, four daughters, Audrey (Alfred Sr.) Hoppe, town of Easton, Arletta (James) Jahnke, town of Hewitt, Judie (Jim) Lain, Little Chute and Marchele (Larry Krom) Laffin, Spring Green; 12 grandchildren, Al Jr. (Mary) Hoppe, Andy (Mary) Hoppe, Arthur (Lynn) Hoppe, Arlin (Robyn) Hoppe, Bart (Debra) Jahnke, Marlise (Paul) Fein, Michael, Jon and Amy Jahnke, Connie Osness, Teri (Mark) Kolosso and Lori (Chris) VanGompel; 14 great grandchildren, Shane (Jenny), Luke (Marijean), Tara, Andrea (Jimmy), Jenny, Cale, Brandon (Mindy), Samantha, Ashley, Cheyanne, Shawn, Lieah, Carrie and Tony; four great great grandchildren; Lynmarie, Evalyn, Grace and Emily; one sister, Gertrude Williams, Tigerton; and one brother, George Hunt, Antigo.
Besides her parents and husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Augustine and Ruth Mortenson; and four brothers, Joseph, Stanley, Clifford and Greg Hunt.
Funeral services will be at Noon Monday, March 13, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church, town of Easton. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church, town of Easton.
