Dorothy "Dotty" Hughes, 74, Marathon, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born February 10, 1941 in Marathon, daughter of the late Frank and Maria (Franz) Hughes. For many years, she worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Ware at the Marathon Clinic and then worked for Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, until her retirement.
Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed shopping, fishing and spending time with her family at the cottage up North. Dotty was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching high school and college basketball and college football. Notre Dame was her favorite football team.
Survivors include, two sons, David (Lynette Burmeister) Kummerow, Marathon and Daniel (Denise) Kummerow, Wausau; three grandchildren, Dawson, Dakota and Elizabeth Kummerow; four sisters, Mary (Ed) Bargender, Wausau, Nancy (Norbert) Weiler, Stetsonville, Margaret "Peggy" Bargender, Portage and Geanne Burger, Stetsonville; her ex-husband, Dennis (Laura) Kummerow, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Kenneth Hughes.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau.
