Dorothy E. Bombagi 79, Wausau, died Wednesday October 24, 2001, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born December 29, 1921 in Wausau daughter of the late William and Katherine (Michael) Peterson. On July 9, 1941, she married John Bombagi in Wausau. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1994. Dorothy was a waitress for the Mint and Bon-Jon CafAC.'s in Wausau for many years. She spent countless hours volunteering for The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing canasta, knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking and traveling throughout the US but especially spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include 2 daughters, Laura (Alan) Olds, Rhinelander and Nancy (Mark) Wipperfurth, Madison; 1 son, Gary (Corleen)Bombagi, Wausau; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Evelyn (Marlyn) Bartsch, Agnes Siewert and Kathrine Dornstreich all of Wausau; 1 brother, Joseph Mertes, Wausau. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, William and Jeffrey Bombagi; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon Saturday October 27, 2001 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
