Donna M. (Geib) Fischer

Donna M. Fischer, 87, Wausau passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born November 15, 1934, in Newburg, daughter of the late Lester and Stella (Lochen) Geib.  Along with her parents Donna and her siblings moved to Edgar in 1946.  On June 13, 1951, she married Vernon Fischer at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.  He preceded her in death on June 1, 2013.

For many years Donna farmed with her husband Vernon in the town of Rib Falls. She was a proud homemaker who never let her children go without fresh baked bread, chocolate cake, kolaches, doughnuts and apple pie.  Her excellent Thanksgiving dressing will live on!  She also enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, crocheting and her love of painting ceramics at Starks Floral and Ceramics in Edgar.  Donna also loved her cats. It wasn’t uncommon to see a herd of cats around her walking to the barn to do chores! Tami and Lucky were her favorite house cats.

Survivors include her children, Bill (Karen) Fischer, Marathon and Diane (Randy) Durst, Rib Mountain, her grandchildren, Julie (Brian) Carnes, Chad (Carly) Fischer, Heather (Aaron) Zimmel, Ryan (Amber) Fischer, her great grandchildren, Zachary and Ali Carnes, Owen, Harper and Emry Zimmel and Felicity and Carter Fischer, her siblings, Dale (Karen) Geib, West Bend, Roger Geib, Saukville, Charlie (Barb) Geib, Wausau and Mary (Steve) Crittenden, Cleveland and many nieces and nephews and her extended family, Jon and Kari Durst, Scott and Jenny Longdo and Keith and Juli Kreager and their families.

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon.  The Rev. Alan Wierzba will officiate.  Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Edgar.  Visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the Marathon funeral home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.  The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Wellington Place for the outstanding care they gave Donna during her stay with them.
