Donald A. Voigt
73, Wausau died Monday, August 10, 2009 at his home.
He was born October 22, 1935 in Hamburg, son of the late Arnold and Hearta (Plisch) Voigt. On March 21, 1964 he married Jean McNulty in Duluth, Minn. She preceded him in death on May 13, 1999. He then married Norma Dudash on July 26, 2003 in Wausau. She survives.
Donald retired from the United States Coast Guard and the United States Air Force after 22 years of service. Full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10, Wausau of which Don was a member. He loved taking care of his many birds in his yard, working in his hobby shop in the basement and volunteering. Donald brought great joy to many people with his various craft subjects.
Survivors include his wife Norma Dudash, Wausau, one son, Ronald (Mary) Dudash, Eau Claire, one granddaughter, Brooke (Adam) Spicer, Tallahassee, Fla., one brother, Carl (Joyce) Voigt, Hamburg, six sisters, Mae (Vernon) Mathwich, town of Berlin, Delores Scheu, Merrill, Doris Staus, Merrill, Lola (Howard) Schmidt, Wittenberg, Marion (Wally) Heahlke, Wausau, Lorraine (LeRoy) Rusch, Wausau, as well as his favorite dog, Peppie.
Besides his parents and wife, Jean, He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Earl Voigt and a sister, Lois Achterberg.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 at First English Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Ted Gulhaugen will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
