Donald James Uekert

Donald J. Uekert, 67, 13598 Highland Dr., Marathon, died Sunday, February 10, 2002 Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Donald was born June 23, 1934 in Merrill, the son of Gladys M. (Beyersdorff) Uekert, Merrill & the late Leo F. Uekert. On September 27, 1958 Donald married Carol Ollhoff at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. She survives. He was a self-employed dairy farmer retiring in 1995, and has spent the last six and a half years working for Rent-a-Flash of Wisconsin. Donald was a current member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rib Falls, serving on the church finance committee, he is the current President of St. John Cemetery Board and formerly served on the church council. Donald also served as the Rib Falls town supervisor from 1969 - 1971. With a love for sports he enjoyed bowling as well as softball in his youth. He spent time playing cards and reading about subjects like American history, the civil war and trains. Survivors besides his loving wife of 43 years, Carol (Ollhoff) Uekert and his mother Gladys, Merrill, include his two daughters, Lori (Alan) Bernarde, Marathon, Patti ((Mike) Athanas, Menasha, four grandchildren, Jessica, Bradley Bernarde, Marathon & Erin, Abbie Athanas, Menasha, sister, Arlene (Ralph) Voigt, Merrill, mother-in-law, Ruth Ollhoff, Wausau and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Reuben Ollhoff. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rib Falls. Burial will be in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, and again Wednesday 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the church.
