Donald D. Stoughton

Donald D. Stoughton 82, 320 Maple St., Athens, died Sunday, July 6, 2003 in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. He was born September 18, 1920 in Marathon County, son of the late George and Margaret (Gaiser) Stoughton. He married Ellen Hoffmann on June 17, 1944 at Peace Lutheran Church in the town of Frankfort. She survives. Donald was a dairy farmer in the town of Johnson until the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Spirit Lake Improvement Association and the Athens Rod and Gun Club. Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors besides his wife, Ellen, Athens; includes three daughters, Shirley Rieck, Nelson, Linda Bergmann and Pearl (Dale) Mader, Athens; four grandchildren, Brian, Greg and Kevin Mader and Michelle "Shelly" Bergmann; one great grandson, Terrell Thomas Bergmann; one sister, Marge (Paul) Mueller, Marshfield; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Tim Rieck and one brother, Walter Stoughton. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Christ United Church, Athens. Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Milan. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
