Donald J. Marthaler

Donald J. Marthaler, 74, Brokaw, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born October 22, 1934 in Goodrich where he was raised, son of the late Chester and Helen (Kittl) Marthaler. Donald attended Athens High School and continued his education at University of Wisconsin River Falls. He served in The United States Marine Reserves. Donald retired from Marathon Electric. He was a member of the Trailmates Snowmobile club, charter member of Rudy's Spike Bucks in Glidden, Wis., served on the Brokaw village board and member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Adeline (Vesely) Marthaler, two sons, Russell and Scott Marthaler, sister, Barbara Marthaler and in laws, Rudolph and Adeline Vesely, Galen Scheibe, Eldred Vesely, Lavone Odey and her husband Jim, Eugene Belter and Marlene Vesely. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass Saturday at the church. There will be a 6:30 p.m. Parish Vigil Friday at the funeral home. Special thank you to all the caregivers who helped Don during his illness.
