Dolores Margaret Steckbauer

Dolores Margaret Steckbauer, 82, Wausau, died June 9, 2011, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services. Dolores was born June 4, 1929, in Wausau to Carl and Margaret (Starzinski) Erdman. She married Robert Steckbauer on September 1, 1956, at St. Anne's Church. To this union were born two sons: Dan and Doug. After graduating from Wausau East High School, Dolores worked at St. Mary's Hospital as a surgery aide. Dolores was an active member of St. Anne's parish and enjoyed participating in the choir, Fatima council, sympathy circle, and polka fest. Dolores was a 60 year member of the Ladies Foresters, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Burns Post 388, and served as Cub Scout den mother. Dolores enjoyed traveling, autumn days at the family cabin, playing cards, baking, and attending the grandchildren's' school concerts and activities. She loved spending time with family and put an emphasis on values and traditions. Dolores had a strong faith and firmly believed in the importance of being your brother's keeper. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Robert; two sons, Daniel (Sue) of River Falls, Wisconsin, and Douglas of Maumee, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Katelyn, Morgan, Laura, Matthew and Emily; one brother, David (Sharon) Erdman of Wausau; and many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and brother Raymond. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 14, 2011 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
