Dolores M. (Rauen) Mauer

Dolores M. Mauer, 97, Athens, died Tuesday November 24, 2020 at Athenian Living, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

She was born May 16, 1923, in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Meyer) Rauen.  On August 28, 1947, she married Gilbert Mauer at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski.  He preceded her in death August 12, 1991.

Dolores and Gilbert farmed in the town of Rietbrock until the time of their retirement.  The Mauers enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit all 50 states as well as some foreign travel.  Dolores was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Parish Council of Catholic Women and had been involved in several card clubs.  Among her favorite things to do were playing cards and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include her sons; Wayne (Gayle) Mauer, Athens, Daniel (Regina) Mauer, Eau Claire, Ronald (Mary) Mauer, Delafield, John (Marlene) Mauer, St. George, Utah, grandchildren, Cory (Jennifer) Mauer, Dr. Kristy (Carl) Langhoff, Jeffrey (Kayla Thomae) Mauer; Matthew and Mark Mauer; Adam (Thalia) Mauer, Eric Mauer; Madelyn (David) Allenbach, Jacquelyn (Brian) Currie, Mitchell (Jenny) Mauer, Kevin Mauer; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sister Joelle Mauer, Merrill and Barbara Rauen, Athens.  Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Bergs, Irene Boris; two brothers, Elmore Rauen and Joseph Rauen.

A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated  at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski.  Rev. Thomas Huff will preside.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The funeral mass will be recorded and available for viewing on the Peterson/Kraemer website on Tuesday morning.   In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Chicago or St. Anthony Spirituality Center, Marathon or the charity of your choice.
