Dolores I. Heindl, 86, Marathon went to be with her Lord and Savior on her birthday, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Copperleaf Assisted Living, Marathon while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born December 23, 1929 in Wausau, daughter of the late George and Mina (Holseth) Zweck. On May 30, 1951 she married Joseph Heindl at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2011. After her marriage to Joe they owned and operated Heindl's Mink Ranch in Marathon. Dolores managed the ranch with the help of the entire family. She also worked at Krautkramer Berry Farms in Marathon. Some of her favorite pastimes included crocheting, card playing, ice fishing and following all of Marathon high school sports and she will be fondly remembered for her famous German potato salad. Dolores enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 469, Marathon. Survivors include her children, Lynne Heindl, Marathon, Larry (Bernie) Heindl, Marathon and JoAnn (Mark) Phillips, Mosinee, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her three sons, Gary, Jim and Steven and two brothers, Rueben and Norman Zweck. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Dolores's name. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
