Dolores Theresa (Goldbach) Gassner

Dolores Theresa (Goldbach) Gassner 83, Wausau, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born February 23, 1924 in Marathon, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Dalski) Goldbach. On July 28, 1946 she married her high school sweetheart Thomas Francis Gassner at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death December 29, 2001. She had been employed at the former Pied Piper Shoe Factory, Wausau then at Marathon Cheese Corporation as a lab technician for over 25 years. Things she enjoyed included shopping, traveling with her husband and embroidering. Survivors include her son, Samuel (Charlotte) Gassner, Marathon, and their children, Janese (Greg) Polley, New London, Heath (Sadie) Gassner, Marathon, Amanda (Chris) Reidinger, Marathon and Sara (Brad) Schmitt, Wausau; eleven great grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Michael, Anthony, Nicole, Arik, Analise, Alexis, Payton, Brandis and Benjamin; two sisters, Adeline (Clarence) Rochow and Elsie Martino, both of Wausau; sisters-in-law, Marie Goldbach and Iris Goldbach, both of Marathon; brothers-in-law, Rudy Poeske, Marathon, and Jake Hornung, Edgar; special cousin and friend, Joan Martin, many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four sisters, Lillian Poeske, Lucille Goldbach, Virginia Hornung and Marie "Kitty" Lins; five brothers, Robert Goldbach, Hubert Goldbach, Raymond Goldbach and twins Clarence and Felix Goldbach; brothers-in-law, Donald Lins and Lawrence Martino and sister-in-law, Ella Goldbach. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
