Dolores M. Blume
82, 3092 Soda Creek Road, Marathon, died Sunday April 30, 2006 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Cedar Ridge, Mosinee.
She was born May 21, 1923 in the town of Marathon, daughter of the late Edwin and Anna (Gassner) Volhard. On May 22, 1945, she married Alphonse W. Blume at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death September 16, 1983.
Dolores and her late husband Alphonse farmed and raised ginseng in the town of Cassel. She will be remembered as a special grandmother to all of her grandchildren. Among her favorite past times were cooking, baking and traveling.
Survivors include seven children, Andrew (Nancy) Blume, Thomas (Georgine) Blume, all of Marathon, Barbara (John) Willoughby, Evansville, Linda Szymanski, Kathleen (James) Sicklinger, Mark (Diane) Blume, all of Marathon, Joseph (Rebecca) Blume, Green Bay, 15 grandchildren, Michael (Tanya), Jill, Elizabeth Blume; Jack (Kathleen), Julie (Peter) Benedict, Jeffrey Blume; Ethan (Stephanie), Catherine Willoughby; Frank (Cherry), Anthony (Erica) Szymanski; Amy (Derrick) Brinkman, Holly (Dan) Pierce;; Bequi Sonntag, Amanda Blume; Michaela Blume; seven great grandchildren, August Blume, Ava Willoughby, Isabel Szymanski, Madison Brinkman, McKenna Brinkman, Raeanna and Jace Myszka; two brothers, Sylvester (Ruth) Volhard and Edwin (Arlene) Volhard, all of Marathon, two sisters, Mary Ann Seliger, Marathon, Angeline (Ralph) Hall, Evansville, two sisters-in-law, Elsie Lepak, Rib Mountain and Phyllis Blume, Marathon, numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Volhard, a grandson, Jeremy Sonntag and a son-in-law, Terry Szymanski.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Weds. May 3, 2006 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Weds. from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service Tuesday evening at the Marathon funeral home.
