Diane Rosella (Rauen) Artus, 71, Marathon, went to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on, Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
She was born September 26, 1953 to the late Joesph and Barbara (Mallak) Rauen and grew up on the family farm in the town of Rietbrock (Edgar). She was a graduate of Edgar High School.
On July 10, 1982 she married John James Artus at St. Mary’s Church in Marathon and they enjoyed 36 grateful years together.
Diane was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart. Her favorite thing was to watch them at all their sporting events, school concerts and just to see them for the evening. The grandchildren brought a joy and a light to her face as the kids would come to the door. Diane loved to be in the kitchen baking her cookies, caramels, and delicious homemade meals. Diane loved her parents’ cottage on Lake Somo in Tomahawk. She also enjoyed the outdoors with camping trips. Diane helped host numerous foreign exchange students from Germany and Spain. She continued contact with them as the years went on and even traveled to visit them in 2018 on a wonderful trip with John and family. She had a sense of adventure and travel. Even if it was going for a ride and taking the back roads. Diane was a dedicated lifelong member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Parish in Marathon, WI. She worked at Marathon Cheese Corporation for years and made lifelong friends. Diane had a very calm presence to her and she made you feel welcome and reassured.
Survivors include her four children James (Wendy) Rauen, Ashley (Jay) Hammerstrom, Chelsey (Kyle Imhoff) and Lesley Artus. Grandchildren Xavier Becker, Angelica and Joseph Rauen, Brexton King and Brynleigh Imhoff, Ty, Aly and Lyla Hammerstrom, Jordin (Morgan) Aschbrenner, Jaye Zastrow. Three great-grandchildren Levi and Logan Aschbrenner and Elliot Becker. Siblings Donna (Mike) Kaiser, Duane (Barb) Rauen and Doreen (Mark) Johnson. Brother and sister-in-law’s Janis Artus, Jayne (Jim) Seeger, Judy (Randy) Artus-DeBroux, Jerry (Sally) and Jeff (Cindy) Artus. Many loved godchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Artus, her infant son John Matthew Artus, her parents Joseph and Barb Rauen, father-in-law and mother-in-law John L. and Leila Artus and brother-in-law Robert Schmidlkofer.
