Denver J. Ziegel

September 29, 1909 — January 7, 2005

Denver J. Ziegel 95, formerly of Edgar, died Friday, January 7, 2005 at Memorial Health Center, Medford after a short illness. He was born September 29, 1909 in the town of Hamburg, son of the late Charles and Augusta (Radtke) Ziegel. On May 13, 1933, he married Edna F. Schnelle in Fenwood. She preceded him in death February 13, 1993. Denver was a resort caretaker and construction worker for Northern Wisconsin Resorts retiring in 1971. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and yard work. Survivors include three daughters, Maxine (Ray) Handrick, Burlington, Lois (Harold) Balz, Athens and Darlene (Arlon) Balz, Phillips; two sons, Glenwood Ziegel, Watertown and Dennis Ziegel, Wausau; 22 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one sister, Goldie Lipinski, Edgar; many nieces & nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Balz; one sister, Dora Tintzman; three brothers, Bennie, Rienhold and Ervin Ziegel. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, Athens. Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Rib Lake Health Care Center or the charity of your choice.
