Dennis S. Ostrowski 74, 1262 Koskey Road, Hatley, died Thursday June 15, 2006 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born August 3, 1931, in Hatley, son of the late Barney and Pearl (Jagler) Ostrowski. In September 1955, he married Loretta Jozwiak at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. She preceded him in death. He then married Margaret Cherek on October 28, 1989 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. She survives. Dennis was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army. In 1993, he retired from Weyerhauser after 36 years of service. A lifelong member of St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley, Dennis was also a member of the St. Isadore Council, Knights of Columbus, Tigerton and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Pere Rene Menard General Assembly, Wausau. He was a Life Member of the Elderon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8068 and the Hatley American Legion Post No. 471. He was a very caring, loving and devoted husband, father, step-father, and grandfather whose main concern was his family. He was an avid fisherman and loved his John Deere tractor. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, a daughter, Julie (Brian) Burish, Edgar, a son-in-law, Andrew Krause, Mosinee, step-children, Mark (Wendy) Cherek, Elderon, Angie (Jerry) Mavis, Wittenberg, Louise (Lloyd) Firkus, Amherst, Fran (Sandi) Cherek, Eland, Margie (Perry) King, Ann (Alan) King, all of Hatley, Bev (JB) Fisher, Eagle River, Mike (Vicki) Cherek, Rothschild, Neil (Jackie) Cherek, Iola, grandchildren, Erin & Luke Krause, Josh, Amber, Autumn and Arielle Burish, 19 step-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren and his very special little "Poopka". Besides his parents and wife, Loretta, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Krause, a son, Allen "Butch" Ostrowski, a stepson, Ervin "Bud" Cherek, a step grandson, Remington King, two brothers, Shorty and Bernard Ostrowski. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday June 19, 2006 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Rev. Thomas Abraham will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, where full Military Honors will be conducted by members of the Elderon VFW and the Hatley American Legion. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. There will be a combined parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to staff of Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the wonderful care extended to Dennis.
