David “Dave” A. Schoepke, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. He was a proud Army veteran and a man who lived life fully, cherishing the outdoors and the people around him.
Dave was born on April 15, 1955 in Wausau, Wisconsin, and was a graduate of Wausau West High School. A true Wisconsinite at heart, he loved hunting, fishing, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with his family. His quiet strength, warm presence, and kind heart were a gift to everyone who knew him.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Hesse) Schoepke; his son, Aaron Schoepke and wife Angela; and his daughter, Nicole Dokie and her husband Brett. He was a devoted grandfather to Jace, Abigail, Brianna, Peyton, Logan, Oliver, Fynn, Sam, Halle, Emma, and Sienna. He is also survived by his siblings: Julie Lindloff and her husband Roger, Patti Krueger and her husband Warren, and Tom Schoepke and his wife Dana.
David was also a proud and loving stepfather to Jason Olmsted and his wife Sarah, Nathan Olmsted and his wife Jennifer, and Heather Olmsted and her partner David. He embraced them as his own and took great joy in being a part of their lives and families.
Dave’s life was one marked by service, adventure, and deep-rooted family bonds. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date. In honor of his love for nature and family, the family encourages everyone to spend time outdoors with loved ones, as David so often did.
