Rib Mountain

David C. Zillman, 70, Rib Mountain, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

He was born May 23, 1948 in Wausau, son of the late Raymond and Alice (Peterson) Zillman.  On April 18, 1975, he married Linda “Lyn” Pospychalla in Wausau.  She survives.

David was a veteran of the United States Army and served during Vietnam from 1968 until 1970.  He was a 1966 graduate of Wausau Senior High School and continued his studies at Northcentral Technical College where he earned a degree in Residential Design in 1968 and a degree in Marketing in 1974.  For many years, he worked as an estimator for Wausau Window and Wall Systems and retired from FM Graham Curtain Wall Systems in Merrill.

He grew up spending as much time as possible at his family cottage on Lake Nokomis. When the time came for their 1930’s cottage to be replaced, he designed and built a new one with the help of both the Zillman and Pospychalla families.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He spent years of weekends and hunting seasons at the cabin outside of Minocqua where he hunted, dragged trails through the woods, and walked for hours at a time, all with his good friend and father-in-law, Ken Pospychalla.

His carpenter skills meant tackling many remodeling projects with Lyn in each of their homes. He was always complimentary to Lyn as not only a good helper, but a good “go-fer”—go for this, go for that.

He also enjoyed golfing and traveling with friends. His favorite traveling was to see his grandchildren and their visits here; all were fun and special times.

He was a kind and gentle man, always thoughtful of others and willing to help anyone whenever he could. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Survivors include, his wife of 43 years, Lyn Zillman, Rib Mountain; one daughter, Karrin (Andrew) Zillman-Moser, Colorado, Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Avery, Frank and Addyson; one sister, Judy Zillman, Milwaukee; three sisters-in-law, Connie Dulas, Wausau, Chris (Jim) Scharch, Madison and Pegge Zillman, Pardeeville; one brother-in-law, Jerry (Kim) Pospychalla, Lenore, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert.

Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau.  Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.  Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau.
