David E. Thewes Sr

David E. Thewes Sr. 74, Kronenwetter, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born September 9, 1937 in Canton, Ohio, son of the late Twila Bracken and Gilbert Thewes. On December 7, 1960 he married Patricia Abrigg in Ohio. She survives. Dave served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Some of his hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping and working in his garden. Dave enjoyed volunteering for the Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School and especially spending time with his family. He was a true Christian with great faith. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, Kronenwetter; children, Cynthia (Bob) Sorenson, Columbus, Ohio, David Jr. (Cary) Thewes, Wausau and Heather (Mark) Weiler, St. Peters, Missouri; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Jr. (Linda) Thewes, Canton, Ohio; sisters, Rita (Richard) Geissinger, Canton, Ohio, Becky (Sam) DeSantis, Richfield, Indiana and Jan (Joe) Schott, Canton, Ohio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryce and two sisters, Gail and Paula. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church, 1300 Townline Road, Wausau. Rev. David Wetmore will officiate. Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School, 601 Maple Ridge Road, Mosinee, WI 54455.
