David Springer, 73, town of Easton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of hard work, deep love for the outdoors and devotion to his family. He was greeted by an angel that he longed to hug, his Dad.
He was born December 28, 1952 in Wausau, the son of Paul and Virginia (Linder) Springer. On August 4, 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Alice Boser at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon.
For more than 48 years, he dedicated himself to his work at Marathon Cheese Corporation. It was more than a job-it was a source of pride and purpose. His strong work ethic was not just something he practiced, but something he lived and passed on to his family.
He lived a life defined by kindness, helping others and humor. He was the kind of man who never missed a birthday call or text, always showed up when someone needed help and could fix just about anything. He learned early to appreciate the land and all it offered. Whether hunting with the grandkids, four wheeling, fishing or simply sitting around the campfire at the cabin, he found peace in the outdoors. Nature was not just a pastime for him…..it was home!
Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, brother, son and most dear to his heart….grandpa! He taught by example how to work hard, keep your word and appreciate the world around you. His presence made people feel welcome and seen and his impact will live on through all the lives he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Alice Springer; devoted son, Troy (Tonya) Springer; lovely daughter, Sarah (Derek) Brown; grandchildren, Owen, Audra, Annelise, Bella, Chapman and Channing; his mother, Virginia Springer; brothers, Danny Springer, Ernie (Mary) Springer, Fred (Patty) Springer and Jerry (Brenda) Springer; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of David’s life will be held from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau.
