David D. Skrzypchak

June 18, 1941 — March 6, 2024

David D. Skrzypchak, 82, of Weston, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born June 18, 1941 in the town of Cassel to the late Anton and Anna (Bargender) Skrzypchak.  David graduated from Marathon High School and also attended NTC.  He married Donna Sickler on October 2, 1965 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and they raised two daughters, Carla and Candice.

David worked as an engineering technician for Drott Manufacturing and later J.I. Case Co.  After his first retirement worked for American State Equipment.  He was proud of his work and was a hard worker that was willing to share his knowledge with friends and family by assisting them with projects and construction equipment.  David would always have some side jobs going on including roofing, excavating, logging for the mill, and making firewood.  He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.

In his free time David was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed many trips to Canada and out west hunting and fishing, creating life-long friendships and memories with his hunting and fishing buddies.  Donna and his family were very important to him as well and he spent many times traveling the states, camping, and musky fishing with her and the kids.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughters, Carla (Roger) Bertram and Candice Koch (fiancé, Todd Wetzel); grandchildren, Jacklyn Bertram (Peter Van Nortwick), Vince (Amy) Bertram, Lucas Koch, and Olivia Koch; great-grandson, Jack Bertram; siblings, Marlene Deininger, Eddie (Marilyn), Eunice Hanson, Rollie (Lyn), and Dale (Doreen); in-laws, Jennie Skrzypchak, Darwin Kluball, David Kleman, Loren Sickler, and Cheryl (Jim) Buttke; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Todd Koch; siblings, Mary (Clarence) Adamski, Valeria (Jack) Olsen, Jeanie (Ed) Bednorski-Kluball, and Frank Skrzypchak; and sisters-in-law, Merna Kleman and Joan (Sidney) Hunter and brother-in-law, Larry Hanson and Sylvester "Champ" Deininger.

A funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 113 West Kort Street, Rothschild, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Albert.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post #10.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.

A special thank you from the family to Aspirus Cardiac I.C.U., Hospital I.C.U, and comfort care for the kindness and assistance provided to David and his family.
