David G. Pieper

David G. Pieper, 78, Tomahawk, formerly of Wausau, died Thursday December 10, 2009 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Harbor House, Rib Mountain. He was born December 21, 1930 in Wausau, son of the late Walter and Anna (Rosentraeter) Pieper. On December 29, 1951 he married Caroline Nigbur at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. David was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War for the Army Security Agency in Japan from February 1951 - February 1954. He was employed as a sales representative for Wausau Papers for over 46 A½ years. David was a member of the Town of Texas Lions Club and Tomahawk Lions Club. He loved to sing. David was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church choir, Grace Lutheran Church choir in Tomahawk and sang for the Wausau Barbershop Chorus. He enjoyed camping with his family, golfing, fishing, bowling and cross country skiing. Survivors include his wife, Caroline Pieper, Tomahawk, two sons, Bruce (Lauri) Pieper, Tomahawk and Brian (Tammy Pierner) Pieper, Waunakee, daughter, Sue (David) Baacke, Merrill, four grandchildren, Karen (Nathan) Bridges, Bloomington, Ill., Christopher Baacke, Madison, Andrew Baacke, Merrill and Natalie Pieper, Marshall, brother, Carroll (Duaine) Pieper, Schofield, two sisters, Verene Kelly, Ocala, Fla., and Janet Bergmann, Wausau. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Service will be 12:00 noon, Monday December 14, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church - ELCA, Wausau. Rev. John W. Meachen will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday December 13, 2009 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church.
