Darwin D. Brunow, 68, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born September 22, 1956, in Wausau, son of Viola (Krueger) Brunow and the late Eldor Brunow. On June 1, 2024, he married Diana (Olmstead) Place in Mosinee.
In his younger years, he enjoyed stock car racing and raced at several local tracks including State Park, Tomahawk, Golden Sands and Kaukauna. More recently he enjoyed wind therapy rides on his Harley with Diana. Darwin was an excellent cook and took pride in his yard, especially his flowers.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Place-Brunow; son, Bryan Brunow; mother, Viola Brunow, sisters, Christine Brunow and Audra Brunow; step-children, Catherine (Adam Tesch) Holmes and Christopher (Krystle) Place; 9 step-grandchildren, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Evie Olmstead, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, LaVern (Mary) Olmstead, Rick Nichols, David (Janet) Olmstead, Deb (Ivan) Heisz, Jody (Dave) Knoble and Kevin (Monica) Olmstead and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eldor.
Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service all at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau.
