Darlene V. Kell

Darlene V. Kell passed away at the age of 92 on Sunday February 8, 2026. She was born on April 11, 1933 in Wausau, WI to the late George and Evelyn (Moderow) Krueger.

Darlene went to Wausau area schools and graduated in 1951 from Wausau High School, this is where she met Derald Kell who became her husband. They married on December 1, 1951 and were married for 71 years until Derald’s passing in 2023. Together, Darlene and Derald raised four boys, Steven, Russell, David and Kevin

Darlene was a member of First Methodist Church in Wausau her entire life. She was a greeter for many years.

Darlene enjoyed gambling, trips to California to visit family and loved fishing. She also enjoyed walking every day and visiting with people, she was definitely a social butterfly. She would say that she had the gift of gab to anyone.

She is survived by two sons, Russell (Diane) of Marathon, WI and David (Leela) of Weston, WI; daughters-in-law, Staci of Prescott, AZ and Cheri Kell Wausau, WI; grandchildren, Brian Kell (Rachelle), Jason Kell and Vivian Kell; and great-grandchildren, Ty Kell and Trevor Kell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn Krueger; husband, Derald Kell; two sons, Steven Kell and Kevin Kell; siblings, Carol Rhyner, Leila Howland, Janice Normand, Diane Goetz and Ronald Krueger.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Rebecca Borke will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau at a later date.
