Daniel C. Lepak

Daniel C. Lepak, 86, Rib Mountain, died Tuesday April 9, 2013 at home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born October 10, 1926, in Marathon, son of the late John and Constance (Busko) Lepak. On June 29, 1948, he married Marie Carr in Marathon. She preceded him in death February 16, 1967. On August 25, 1973, he married Mary Szymanski-Oleszczuk at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death April 22, 2003. He was a veteran of the US Marines, having received the Purple Heart commendation. Prior to his retirement, Dan had been employed as a lineman with Wisconsin Public Service Corporation and also farmed in the town of Rib Mountain. Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus, George Schreier Council No. 1069, Wausau and also enjoyed playing cards, bowling and planting sweet corn. He truly enjoyed watching and analyzing the stock market and investments. Survivors include 11 children, Daniel (Sheri) Lepak, Wausau, Gail (Keith) Lawrence, Wausau, Connie (Dennis) Janssen, Wausau, Bonnie Roeder, Wausau, Sue (Dennis) Bedish, Eagle River, Ronald (Fiance', Gayle) Lepak, Wausau, Patrice (Charles) Janssen, Wausau, Nancy (Donald) Hall, Wausau, Roger Lepak, Wausau, Mary Beth Smith, Ware Schoals, SC, Kathleen Lepak, Neenah, 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, five step-children, Patti (Steven Akey)Linehan, Wausau, Cathy (Bill) Wasmund, Wausau, Bruce (Penny) Oleszczuk, Beaverton, Ore., Mary Jo Leitermann, Milwaukee, Tim (Gayle) Oleszczuk, Milwaukee, four siblings, John Roland (Julie) Lepak, Calif., Betty Jansen, Wausau, Cyril (Patricia) Lepak, Cumberland, Rueben (Pat) Lepak, Marathon, brother and sisters-in-law, Rev. Eugene Hornung, Marathon, Catherine Lepak, West Bend, Jackie Lepak, Calif. Besides his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two sons, James and Steven Lepak, two sons-in-law, Randal Roeder and Thomas Smith, two sisters, Julia Lang and Delores Hornung and two brothers, Norbert and Mark Lepak. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon Monday April 15, 2013 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion - Alois Dreikosen Post No. 469, Marathon. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service Sunday 4:00 p.m. at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
