Daniel A. Lella

June 13, 1933 — December 19, 2024

Daniel A. Lella, 91, of Neenah, Wisconsin died Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Dan was born June 13, 1933, to the late John and Catherine (Midlikowski) Lella. He was a proud graduate of Wausau High School, Class of 1951.

After graduation he began his banking career as a bookkeeper at Citizens State Bank in Wausau, where he progressed to Head Teller. In 1961, a sister bank was formed in downtown Wausau at Fourth and Scott Streets. At the National  Bank of Wausau (later First Wisconsin) he continued his banking journey as Assistant Cashier, Cashier and Vice President. During those years he was active in the state banking group, serving as an officer for many years. He was an active member of the Wausau Noon Optimists, the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary Church.

The following years would take him and his family to Berlin, Wisconsin, where he was associated with The First National Bank and the Lions Club there. The journey would continue to the Farmers State Bank of Larsen and Marine/Firstar/Chase Bank of Neenah and Appleton. Residing in Neenah he was active in the Larsen-Winchester Lions Club and St. Gabriel Church.

Golfing was his passion, especially in retirement, playing rounds in Wisconsin in every month but February. And he belonged to the hole-in-one club.

He was much a man of great integrity and patience. His family always came first, and his generosity was unassuming and quiet.

Dan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sue of Neenah, daughter Nancy (Mike) Czerwinski of Appleton and son Thomas of Wausau; and his grandson Michael of Wausau, the light of his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers George (Hildegarde) and Carl, and sister Irene.

Services will be held at a later date.

Well done, good and faithful servant. Come and share your master’s joy.
